Tim McNeill Steps Down as Men's Gymnastics Coach

Tim McNeill, who has served as Cal's head men's gymnastics coach for the past three seasons, is leaving his position with the University. McNeill plans to undergo back surgery and, following a period of rehabilitation, expects to return to a career in coaching elite gymnastics.

The California men's gymnastics' season came to a close Sunday as a pair of Golden Bears earned All-American status in the NCAA Gymnastics Championship's individual event finals at Penn State.

Golden Bear Pair Advances to Individual Event Finals | In a heartbreaking decision at the NCAA Championships, the California men's gymnastics team placed fourth in session II of the NCAA Championships Qualifier with a 426.450, failing to advance to Saturday's team final at Penn State in State College, Penn. Though the Golden Bears will not advance as a team, six gymnasts qualified for individual event competition on Sunday.

Bears Ready for Chance at National Championship

The ninth-ranked California men's gymnastics team is set for NCAA Championship competition, held April 19-21 at Pennsylvania State University in University Park, Penn. Cal will compete in the evening session of the NCAA Qualifier at Rec Hall on Friday, April 19, where the Golden Bears will be joined by top-seeded Penn State, No. 4 Stanford, No. 5 Ohio State, No. 8 Iowa and No. 13 Temple.
