The Golden Bears will be joined in the historic meet with competitors from Kansas, Southern Illinois, the women's team from Minnesota and the men's team from the University of Missouri - Kansas City.

"The Kansas Relays is one of the big four major relay/invitationals in the country," said director of track & field Tony Sandoval. "It has a storied history that began in 1923. Furthermore, Kansas track & field has a hall of fame that is rich with world track legends that reflect the excellence in track for over 100 years. Cal's hall of fame coach Brutus Hamilton came to Cal from Kansas. Given all that history and tradition, we're honored to compete in the quadrangular within the mega meet."

• BRENDEL DELIVERS IN DECATHLON
Tyler Brendel was the top collegiate finisher and was second overall in Group A of the men's decathlon at the Mt. Sac Multis held on the Azusa Pacific campus last Wednesday and Thursday. Brendel totaled 7347 points, and his 1500m time of 4:25.69 was a PR.

• BEARS IN THE RANKINGS
The Bears have three competitors in the top 10 in the current national rankings. Bethan Knights is fifth in the 10,000m (33:31.25), while Ashtyn Davis is seventh in the 110m hurdles (13.65) and Peter Simon is ninth in the shot put (19.41m). • LAST TIME: CAL MEN WIN AT BIG MEET
Throughout much of the afternoon, Cal and Stanford traded leads in the 123rd edition of the Big Meet on April 8. The Cal men were victorious, as the Bay Area rivals split the dual meet with the Stanford women winning, as well.

Cal capped the men's race with a thrilling victory in the final event – the 4x400-meter relay – as freshman Paramveer Chohan surged ahead in the final 50 meters to hand the Bears the win in 3:11.55.

Overall, the Bear men prevailed in 11 different events. Of note, Ashtyn Davis ran the fifth-fastest 110-meter hurdles race in school history as he was timed in 13.65, and Cole Johnson broke a 10-year Stanford winning streak in the 400 meters with his victory in 48.33.

Cal trailed for much of the first half of the afternoon and finally took its first lead, 49-46, after Eugene Hamilton III and Josh Lewis went 1-3 in the 800 meters.
