Cal-Oregon State Postgame Quotes
Â
Opening Statement…
"I thought it was a good bounce-back game. To come back and play the way we played, I thought it was one of the first games that we finished. We didn't let the atmosphere consume us. This time of the season it's never too late and it's a good sign for us."
Â
On playing with revenge from Wednesday's game…
"Once we kind of got settled in -- I thought we missed some easy shots – but we tightened the screws. We lost to a good team [on Wednesday]. We learn from it. It's tough and what we need to do is win ball games and keep moving forward and we did that."
Â
On getting first-round bye in the Pac-12 Tournament…
"I think it's very important. It's not impossible to win it but when we talk getting fresh legs, it is always important. For us, we just have to win ball games. It's as simple as that."
Â
On Senior Night…
"I used to be emotional, thought we would never see them again. But we realized that they move on and they will still be a part of your life and your family and they are just growing. Senior night for me is having a great time and saying farewell to our fans and we appreciate what they do on and off the court."
Â
Â
On emotions after the game…
"It's very emotional. I had to fight back tears honestly walking off for the last time. It's been an unbelievable four years, and I've had so many great teammates, even with different coaches. I am grateful for this experience and I'm going to miss it a lot."
Â
On growth as a person/player…
"There has been a lot of growth. Coming in as an 18-year-old kid from the other side of the country, I had to grow up really far away from my parents and it's forced me to mature in so many ways. Coach Martin has been a big reason for that—he's challenged me as a basketball player and a person off the court, and I'm so thankful for that. We're not done yet, and I'm sure once I graduate and am able to look back I'll appreciate it even more, but I can see the growth looking back now from when I was 18. "
Â
On Oregon game…
"I think the Oregon game really affected us because we had a No. 6 team in the nation down by 16 points at halftime, and we were up 10 with four minutes left, so I think we wanted to put a complete game together for our last game at home. There was extra emotion tonight, but we've shown that we can play with the best teams in the conference and the country, and so we wanted to get out and lead and challenge ourselves defensively, stay locked in a whole game."
Â
Â
On game's play…
It felt good. Obviously we let the Oregon game -- they took the game from us -- so this game we wanted to be able to take out the frustration of that on someone else. This game felt like the first in a long time that once we got going, we played defense the entire game. It's never too late to hit our potential, so it was a great win, but on to the next game."
Â
On speculation of coming back next year…
"No question, I think I have the opportunity to go or stay, and I don't know what's going to happen. I did take the time tonight to soak in the time on the court, slap fans hands, take pictures with people and really soak in the moment. Regardless, it was our last home game—and I wanted to enjoy it."
Â
On team's tournament chances…
"I feel great about our chances. After those three losses, things may have looked bad, but we got the win tonight and I'm pretty sure a lot of stuff is saying we're still in the running. As I always say, it's about the next game. We're not thinking about that now. We're just trying to keep getting wins. I don't go into any games thinking about getting a loss."
