Cal’s Pro Day Set For Friday, March 24

Public Portion Of Event Scheduled To Begin At 10 AM PT

BERKELEY – Cal will hold its annual Pro Day for former Golden Bears that are professional football prospects on Friday, March 24. The portion of the event open to the public at California Memorial Stadium is scheduled to begin at approximately 10 am PT with stadium gates to open at 9:30 am PT. Admission is free.

Fans can enter the venue on the north end of the stadium through Gate 2 and follow signage to open seating areas in Sections E-H. Only participants and credentialed personnel will be allowed on the field.

Front office personnel, coaches and scouts from all 32 NFL teams are expected be in attendance at the event.

Former Cal football student-athletes expected to participate include Chad Hansen, Steven Moore, Khalfani Muhammad, Bradley Northnagel, Bug Rivera, Khari Vanderbilt, Davis Webb, Patrick Worstell and DeVante Wilson. Hansen, Northnagel and Webb have also each received an invitation and are scheduled to compete February 28 – March 6 at the 2017 NFL Combine in Indianapolis.

During the public portion of the event, participants will have the opportunity to be timed in the 40-yard dash, 20 and 60-yard shuttles, and 3 cone drill before going through on-field position work.
Other measurable drills held earlier in the day will include the bench press, broad jump and vertical jump. The prospects will also go through a flexibility test and have their height, weight, hand width, arm length and wing span measured.

The complete list of Pro Day participants has yet to be finalized. All prospective participants should contact Norman Mo (510-703-1676, normanmo@berkeley.edu). Only participants who have been pre-approved in advance of Pro Day will be allowed to participate.

2017 NFL DRAFT
The 2017 NFL Draft will be held April 27-29 on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway in Philadelphia. Cal has had 27 first-round picks including 11 in the last 17 drafts and two No. 1 overall selections in quarterbacks Jared Goff (Los Angeles Rams, 2016) and Steve Bartkowski (Atlanta Falcons, 1975). The Golden Bears have had 230 selections overall since the draft began in 1936 with four in the most recent 2016 NFL Draft including Goff, wide receiver/returner Trevor Davis (Green Bay Packers, fifth round, No. 163 overall), running back Daniel Lasco (New Orleans Saints, seventh round, No. 237 overall) and wide receiver Kenny Lawler (Seattle Seahawks, seventh round, No. 243 overall). Cal currently has 29 players on active NFL rosters.
 
CALIFORNIA MEMORIAL STADIUM LOCATION/PARKING/TRANSPORTATION OPTIONS
Location – California Memorial Stadium is located on Piedmont Avenue in Berkeley between Bancroft Way and Stadium Rim Way, adjacent to the Simpson Center for Student-Athlete High Performance at 2227 Piedmont Avenue. Parking in the vicinity is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please be sure to read all signs at each parking location for further important information. See below for some suggestions in order of proximity to the stadium.
Stadium Parking Structure – Paid parking near the corner of Gayley Road (where Piedmont Avenue becomes Gayley Road) and Stadium Rim Way just north of the stadium.
Street Parking – Paid and two-hour free parking may be available on streets near the stadium.
Witter Lot – Paid parking near the corner of Centennial Drive and Stadium Rim Way just east of the stadium.
Lower Sproul Garage – Paid parking on north side of Bancroft Way between Telegraph Avenue and Dana Street.
Recreational Sports Facility Garage – Paid parking on north side of Bancroft Way between Dana Street and Ellsworth Street.
Underhill Garage – Paid parking located on corner of Channing Way and College Avenue.
Public Transportation – Public transportation is highly recommended when visiting California Memorial Stadium. There are multiple public transportation options. Visit bart.gov, actransit.org or 511.org for more information.
