Cal Introduces 2017 Signees

BERKELEY – California men's soccer has signed seven standout student-athletes to National Letters of Intent, head coach Kevin Grimes announced recently. The class is headlined by Sacrament United academy midfielder Lucas Churchill, a threesome from the San Jose Earthquakes academy Kaleo Fernandez, Chris Grey and Alonzo Del Mundo, and Real SoCal's Francisco Perez, who has already enrolled at Cal.

"We are really excited about our 2017 signing class," head coach Kevin Grimes said on Wednesday. "These seven players fit perfectly within our team's style of play, as well as our program's culture. We look forward to bringing this group into our program."

The Bears are coming off of a 2016 season that saw them finish the year at 5-10-2 that graduated six seniors, including a pair of MLS signees in Christian Thierjung and Nick Lima. The duo both were picked up by the San Jose Earthquakes, Lima with a Homegrown Contract and Thierjung who was picked up in the third round of the MLS draft. Key returnees for the 2017 season are All-Pac-12 honorees Jose Carerra-Garcia and Paul Salcedo-Borrego entering their senior seasons.
