Bears Sign Katherine Zhu To NLI
BERKELEY, Calif. – Head Coach
Nancy McDaniel announced that Katherine Zhu has signed a national letter of intent to join the Cal women's golf team for the 2018-19 season on Tuesday.
Zhu comes to the Bears from The Harker School in San Jose. Going into her senior season, Zhu has already accomplished something never done in the history of the West Bay Athletic League; she has won four straight individual league championships. That feat has not been accomplished by a male or female in league history.
Zhu named to the 2016 Rolex Junior All-American Team. She also appeared on the 2014 Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy Jr. All-Star Team. Golfweek has Zhu ranked seventh in the state amongst class of 2018 golfers.
She was named The Harker School's player of the year in three consecutive seasons and helped the team to a fourth place finish in the Central Coast Section of CIF during the 2017 season. That fourth place finish was the best-ever finish for the school. Zhu finished in a tie for seventh at the tournament.
She is the daughter of Bo Gan and Qiang Zhu and intends to major in business once enrolling at Cal next year.
