Cal-Cal Poly Postgame Quotes

Cal Head Coach Wyking Jones

On the game:
"I'm happy with the win. I'm really happy with how we played in the first half. I thought we did some really good things, being aggressive and the press looked really good in the first half. Obviously, we did a great job of getting the ball in the paint to Kingsley and Marcus and getting drives from our guards as well to shoot seventy percent from the field in the first half. Second half, I think our guys got a little too loose and kind of let their guards down a little bit but Cal Poly is a good team and they made some unbelievable shots at the end and a lot of them -- I'm going to look at the film -- were very contested shots."

On the team getting the ball to Marcus Lee and Kingsley Okoroh:
"We just emphasized it. We had a day to prep, watched film and talked about it. I had individual meetings with some of the guards and said we need to do a better job of getting those guys the ball. You get those guys the ball and now they're going to rebound a little bit better and now they're going to do a better job on the defensive end. It just makes those guys feel better to know they can get touches and it's just better for everybody."

On Don Coleman's performance today vs. Friday:
"Unbelievable. He played with a better pace tonight and he didn't look out of control. He still ended up with his 30. He played an unbelievable game tonight and was very good for us. His teammates see it and we see it. Hopefully he continues to play that way."

On implementing Justice Sueing into the starting lineup:
In that second line of the press, Justice is very good. He has a great feel for the game and he gave a little more of a defensive presence. He's a bigger body down there on the back of the zone. He gives us some rebounding and size at that position."

California Forward Marcus Lee

On bouncing back after Friday's loss:
"I think we responded really well. We responded by getting closer as a team. With a team that's so young and so new, going from a loss to coming together with a big win is huge."

On Don's play offensively:
"We need Don to stay engaged and keep attacking no matter what the game looks like. We need him in that mindset no matter what is going on, so we have no problem with how he did it [scored]."

On mindset coming into the game following Friday's loss:
"I kind of got reminded what we are playing for. Our coaches talked about it. We are playing for Cal, we are playing to be confident and we are playing for each other. That just reminded me to go a little bit harder and do a little bit more for our team."

California Guard Don Coleman

On his play today versus Friday:
"I was way more efficient. Coach talked to me. He was like, 'Stay aggressive but at the same time make sure to feed Marcus and King,' and let the game come to me and not rush it."

On his three-point shooting today versus Friday:
"I felt more comfortable. I didn't rush it. I played through the system and I let it come to me. Justice drove and kicked on one, I was open and shot it and King passed it to me one time and I shot it. I just let the game flow instead of trying to rush it and force things."

On difference tonight in regard to the team's shooting well early in the game:
"Honestly, we got the ball inside. We played inside-out instead of outside-in. That was a big reason for it.
