Cal-Washington Postgame Notes

  • With tonight's result, Cal falls to 3-3 overall and 0-3 in the Pac-12. The Bears next host Washington State Friday at 7:30 p.m.
  • Darius Allensworth returned a fumble 37 yards for a touchdown – the first touchdown of his career and Cal's first defensive touchdown of the 2017 season. The fumble return was the first for a TD since Stefan McClure's 45-yarder vs Washington State in 2015. James Looney was credited with his first forced fumble of the season and the second of his career on the play.
  • Alex Funches recorded one tackle for loss to lift his team-leading total to 6.0 this season.
  • Patrick Laird caught five passes for 28 yards to match his career high for receptions (also vs. Ole Miss and at Oregon).
  • Tevin Paul recorded his first career sack and also had career highs in sack yards (-8), tackles for loss (2.0) and tackle for loss yards (-10).
  • Ross Bowers has not thrown an interception in his last 66 attempts since his fourth against USC in the fourth quarter against the Trojans
  • Evan Weaver tied a career-high with six tackles and had a career-high 2.0 tackles for loss.
  • Derron Brown (5) and Elijah Hicks (4) tied career highs for tackles.
  • Chase Forrest appeared in his first game of the season and completed 5-of-8 passes for 53 yards
  • Steven Coutts had Cal career highs of four punts and a 42.0 punting average in his second appearance for the Golden Bears.
  • Zion Echols made his first career start.
