Cal-Stanford Postgame Notes

  • Ivan Rabb finished with 25 points and 13 rebounds – his 10th double-double of the season, including each of his last six home games. He has now scored at least 20 points in a game five times this season.
  • Rabb scored at least 25 points for the third time. He had a career-best 26 vs. Alcorn State on Dec. 3 and 25 points against Louisiana Tech Nov. 30.
  • In his five Pac-12 home games this year, Rabb is averaging 14.0 rpg.
  • Rabb hit his fifth 3-pointer of the year in the first half and his sixth of the season in the second half, making him now 6-for-11 from behind the arc in 2016-17.
  • With 17 points, Jabari Bird moved up to 41st on Cal's career scoring list, now with 1,051 points.
  • Bird also hit two 3-pointers and now ranks eighth all-time at Cal with 158 shots made behind the arc.
  • Charlie Moore dished out a career-best 8 assists. His previous high was six set twice earlier this year.

  • Today's game served as the annual Pete Newell Classic, honoring Cal's Hall of Fame coach who led the Bears to the 1959 NCAA title.
  • During a halftime ceremony, Stan Morrison was presented with the Pete Newell Career Achievement Award. Morrison played for the Bears from 1958-61 before embarking on a long career in athletics, as both a basketball coach (Pacific, USC, San Jose State) and athletic director (UC Santa Barbara, UC Riverside).
  • Senior swimmer Ryan Murphy, who won three gold medals at the Olympics in Rio over the summer, presented the game ball before the start of the game.
  • New head football coach Justin Wilcox received a standing ovation when he was introduced to the crowd for the first time.
