Cal To Race In Notre Dame, Sac State Meets
BERKELEY --- The California cross country teams return to action this weekend after nearly a month away, racing in a pair of meets in two locations.
Some Golden Bears will be traveling to South Bend to take part in the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational on Friday, September 30. Cal will take part in the first two races of the day - the women's blue race at 11 a.m. PT and the men's blue race at 11:45 a.m. PT.
The others that are competing will stay in-state to take part in Sacramento State's Capital Cross Challenge on Saturday, October 1 at Haggin Oaks Golf Course. The men's 8K race will start at 9:35 a.m. while the women's 5K competition will get under way at 10:15 a.m.
"We're really looking forward to getting into racing season with these two meets," cross country head coach
Shayla Houlihan said. "We've had an excellent, uninterrupted four week build up since our pre-season opener at USF and both teams look very good. We'll be looking to mix it up with some very good ranked teams at Notre Dame. The Sac State meet will give the rest of the team a chance to check out the NCAA Regional course that we will race in November. I know there are going to be some very good teams there as well."
