BERKELEY – Five days after capturing a notable college singles championship at the Hellman Tennis Complex, Andre Goransson looks to add a pro doubles title to his tally on Saturday at Hellman. The California senior along with former Pacific star Sem Verbeek will take on the top-seeded Connor Smith and Rhyne Williams in the doubles final in the third and last match of the day in the $25,000 Berkeley Futures USTA Pro Circuit tournament.

The Golden Bear and Tiger beat the fourth-seeded pair of Lucas Gomez and Kaichi Uchida, 6-4, 6-4, on Friday to reach the final.

On Monday at Hellman, Goransson defeated fellow Cal senior Filip Bergevi to win singles in the ITA Northwest Regional Championships presented by Oracle. That victory qualified the Hollviken, Sweden, native for the upcoming USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships in Flushing Meadows, New York.

Goransson could also win his second singles title in one week, as he's playing in the singles semifinals on Saturday at the Berkeley Futures. The busy Swede defeated Belgian Michael Geerts – who's No. 544 in the world rankings – 7-6(4), 6-0, in Friday's quarterfinals. Goransson will face the sixth-seeded Gomez – who's ranked 468th – in Saturday's first match at 10 a.m. at Hellman.

Cal senior Florian Lakat had a tall order in his Friday quarterfinal, as the Paris, France, product faced the tournament's top seed, Ruben Bemelmans, who's ranked 226th in the world. Lakat lost to the Belgian, 6-3, 6-2.

The $25,000 Berkeley Futures tournament concludes on Sunday with the singles final.
