Experience Defines The Offensive Line Unit

  • Sixteen of Cal's 20 offensive linemen have participated in at least one collegiate season entering this year.
  • Leon Bell appeared in two games for Mississippi State in 2024. Before joining the Bulldogs, he was ranked as the No. 2 JUCO product in the state of Texas at Kilgore Junior College. 
  • Daveion Harley, a transfer from Jacksonville State, appeared in 13 games with eight starts last season and saw over 700 reps at center while also logging time at guard. He allowed just two sacks in 826 plays and helped clear the way for the nation's No. 2 rushing attack. He appeared in 12 games for the Gamecocks as a true freshman in 2023. 
  • Redshirt sophomore Nick Morrow returns after he started at left tackle in the first 11 games of last season before sitting out the last two with injury. 
  • LaJuan Owens, a transfer from New Mexico, reunites with offensive line coach Famika Anae in Berkeley after starting 10 games as a redshirt freshman for the Lobos in 2024. He earned Mountain West Freshman of the Week honors in Week 11 vs San Diego State and allowed just four quarterback pressures during the 2024 season. He was part of the Lobo offensive line unit that only gave up five sacks during the season. 
  • Lamar Robinson  started every game for Georgia State at left guard in 2024 and saw a total of 757 offensive snaps while allowing just 18 pressures on the quarterback. 
  • Tyson Ruffins  made nine starts and appeared in 11 games at Nevada in 2024. He saw 585 snaps last season for the Wolf Pack, all at left guard  and did not surrender a sack and gave up just one quarterback hurry. 
  • Jordan Spasojevic-Moko made 10 starts at Charlotte in 2024. Before his time in the Queen City, he spent three seasons at Texas A&M from 2021-23 and he played in nine games with three starts. 
  • Bastian Swinney returns to Cal after appearing in 12 games as a starter on the offensive line. He made seven starts at right guard, two starts at center and one start as the left guard. 
  • Frederick Williams III, a redshirt sophomore, enters the 2025 season with five starts under his belt from 2024. 
  • Redshirt junior Sioape Vatikani appeared in five total games last season while making three starts before missing the rest of the season due to an injury. He made a pair of starts at left guard while making one start at right guard. 
Offensive Line Coach: Famika Anae, 1st Season
  • Famika Anae enters his first season as Cal's offensive line coach in 2025. Prior to Berkeley, he spent time at New Mexico, Campbell, Texas A&M - Commerce, Dixie State, Virginia and BYU.
  • Anae has over 10 seasons of collegiate coaching experience, most recently serving as the offensive line coach at New Mexico in 2024.
  • In his three full-time stops, Anae has seen eight of his players garner all-conference honors.
  • At New Mexico, the Lobos' high-powered offense was led by a strong running attack, ranking fourth nationally in rushing at 253.6 yards per game.
  • Led by Anae, the Lobos' offensive line led the country last season in both total sacks allowed (5) and sacks allowed per game (0.42). New Mexico also topped FBS teams in tackles for loss allowed, giving up just 26 on the season for 70 yards (2.17 pg). The 26 tackles for loss allowed were eight fewer than Army's 34, the second-least allowed in the country. The Lobos were fourth in the NCAA in total offense at 484.3 yards per game.
  • In 2023, Campbell's 2023 offensive line ranked No. 2 in the FCS in pass blocking efficiency (93.2), according to PFF. The CU offense also led the CAA and finished fifth nationally in pass completion percentage (.702).
  • At Texas A&M Commerce, Anae spent three seasons coaching the offensive line and helped develop three all-conference players. In 2021, the offensive line anchored an offense that gained 3,580 total yards and allowed less than two sacks per game.
  • As a player, Anae played two seasons on the offensive line at BYU from 2011-12 before injuries ended his career after his sophomore season. As a starter in 2012, Anae earned All-Independent honors for the Cougars.
