I am a recent Cal graduate who currently owns season tickets outside of section QQ. Now that new alumni qualification status has been expanded to graduates 2004-2013, how do I renew and move my seats into that section?
If you graduated from Cal between 2004-2013 and owned regular reserved season tickets in 2012, you should select New Alumni season tickets under "Additional Items" at the bottom of the online application instead of renewing your existing seats listed under "Renewable Items." There is a limit of 2 new alumni season tickets per account. The cost of the ticket(s) and donation(s) will be due in full at the time of renewal.

Steps to go from outside QQ in 2012 to new alumni season tickets in QQ for 2013:

  1. Within the online renewal application, under "Renewable Items," reduce the quantity to 0
  2. Under Additional Items - Reserved Season, choose New Alumni Ticket Type (limit 2) and input graduation year in the appropriate text box
  3. Seat location will be chosen by customer at Seat Selection

Please Note: If you are not 100% sure that you want New Alumni seats in section QQ, we recommend that you renew your reserved season tickets and RSVP for the Select-a-Seat event to decide on seat location. Cal will refund the ticket price difference but cannot refund any donation portion.

I’m a current Cal Faculty & Staff member who wants to renew my season tickets and also receive the Faculty & Staff discount.
University of California, Berkeley (Cal) faculty & staff that do not currently own discounted faculty & staff season tickets should NOT renew their season tickets and instead purchase their faculty & staff tickets under Additional Items at the bottom of the online application. After purchasing, the faculty & staff account holder should call the Customer Service team at (800) GO BEARS (462-3277) and press option 2 to ensure the specific seats are allocated at the faculty & staff rate. Patrons who had Faculty & Staff tickets in 2012 will already see the reduced price reflected in their season ticket order.

Steps to renew non-faculty & staff tickets to the faculty & staff discounted reserved season tickets in 2013:

  1. On the online renewal application, under `Renewable Items', reduce the quantity to 0

  3. Call Customer Service at (800) GO BEARS (462-3277) and press option 2 to ensure same seat location renewed

General Questions

Why is the season ticket renewal period earlier than in years past?
We have adjusted the season ticket renewal timeline to accommodate a number of objectives that benefit both the season ticket holder and department. The benefits of this change are considerable. Renewing season ticket holders will experience a fan-friendly seat upgrade process at our first-ever select-a-seat event; it will allow for those with a required per-seat donation the ability to take advantage of year-end tax benefits if applicable - donations are due in full April 30, 2013; and it will provide the athletic department a longer season ticket sales cycle to benefit our programs.

When will the 2013 schedule of game dates and times be announced?
The Pac-12 Conference will announce official game dates in January 2013. Cal football games are televised throughout the year on a variety of networks, including the Pac-12 Networks, FOX, ESPN family of networks and FX. Television selections are announced 12 (or in some cases, 6) days in advance once choices have been made by the networks. Games times and network decisions will be posted on CalBears.com as soon as they are available.

Why does Cal play so many night games?
Night games are a Golden Bear tradition at Cal and bring a unique atmosphere to Memorial Stadium under the lights. Cal football games are televised throughout the year on a variety of networks, including the Pac-12 Networks, FOX, ESPN family of networks and FX. Television game time selections are announced 12 (or in some cases, 6) days in advance once choices have been made by the networks. Games times and network decisions will be posted on CalBears.com as soon as they are available.

Why was the east side of Memorial Stadium not renovated in the recent construction project?
For nearly two years, thousands of construction workers, project managers, architects and engineers toiled tirelessly to bring the building up to modern standards and create a seismically safe environment able to host Cal football games and other events for many years to come. Overall, the retrofit and renovation, which cost $321 million, impacted about 60 percent of the stadium, primarily on the west side where the structure was above the ground and needed to be improved to meet modern seismic standards.

Construction of phase 3, which would provide improvements to the east side of California Memorial Stadium, would follow phase 2 only as funds become available. The east side of the stadium consists of concrete slabs and footings on grade; since there is no supported structure it poses no significant risk of seismic hazard.
