BERKELEY - Eight members of the California women's water polo team were selected to the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation all-academic team, as announced recently by the organization.
The Golden Bears who made the squad were Kristen Mase, Stephanie Peckham, Emily Csikos, Elizabeth McLaren, Breda Vosters, Remington Price, Taylor Dodson and Dana Ochsner.
Criteria to garner the academic recognition are: 3.00 or better cumulative grade point average, must be at least a sophomore academically, must have completed one full academic year at the institution prior to the season for which the award is being received and must have competed in fifty percent or more of the institution's competition in his or her respective sport.
Earlier this season, Peckham, Csikos, Vosters and Ochsner were named to the MPSF All-Conference team.
Cal, the 2011 MPSF champions, advanced to the national championship match as the second-ranked team in the country before falling to top-ranked Stanford.
