WOODLAND, CALIF. -

Displaying another strong showing in the classroom, eight members of the 2012 California women's water polo team were selected to the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation all-academic team, as announced today Executive Director Al Beaird.

Golden Bears named to the squad included junior Kirstn Mase, sophomore Kelly Mendoza, senior Elizabeth McLaren, junior Breda Vosters, junior Remington Price, junior Taylor Dodson, sophomore Lauren Bridges and junior Dana Ochsner. It was the second year in a row Richard Corso's squad had eight players selected to the MPSF's All-Academic Team.

Criteria to garner the academic recognition are - 3.00 or better cumulative grade point average, must be at least a sophomore academically, must have completed one full academic year at the institution prior to the season for which the award is being received and must have competed in fifty percent or more of the institution's competition in his or her respective sport.

"Once again it is another strong result from our student-athletes on our team," said Corso. "I am proud of all of them. This is just one of the factors as to why we are the best aquatics program at a public university in the world."

Earlier this season, Vosters was named first-team All-MPSF, while Ochsner was selected All-MPSF second team and McLaren was tabbed All-MPSF honorable mention.
