Freshman Grace Reynolds scored a match-high five goals, including a pair in the first and fourth periods, to pace California to a 14-10 victory over Cal State Northridge Saturday during the third day of the MPSF Championship in Tempe, Ariz. Junior Molly Hayes also recorded a hat trick in the second half to help lead the Golden Bears to the win. Cal improves to 11-11 overall and will now face host Arizona State (14-13) in the ninth-place match on Sunday, Apr. 29 at 10:20 a.m. at Mona Plummer Aquatic Center.

The seventh-seeded Bears took control of the contest by outscoring the 11th-seeded Matadors, 7-2, in the first half. Besides the scoring of Reynolds and Hayes, freshmen Meredith Butte and Erin Scully added two goals apiece, and freshman Darby Anderson and senior All-American Elsie Windes each tallied a goal.

Christie Cruz led Cal State Northridge with three goals. Sophomore goalie Lauren Burke collected eight saves in the goal for Cal, while Jillian Stapf stopped seven shots for the Matadors.
