Women's Water Polo Defeats Long Beach State, 13-1

SAN PABLO, Calif. - The No. 3 ranked California womens water polo team (11-2) dominated Long Beach (2-7), 13-1, Thursday at Contra Costa College Pool in San Pablo. The Bears jumped out to a 6-0 lead after the first quarter and cruised to the win by scoring three goals in both the second and third periods, and a single goal in the fourth period.

Long Beach State got its lone goal in the second period on a shot by freshman Lisa Helm.

The scoring leaders for the Bears were junior Kaliya Young and freshman Kara Griffiths, with two goals apiece. Nine other players scored single goals for Cal.

Then Bears will next host San Diego State, Friday, Mar. 13 at 4 p.m. at Contra Costa College.
