Five different players scored for No. 4-ranked Cal, but the Golden Bears couldn't recover from giving up six goals in the first period, falling to No. 1-ranked Stanford, 13-5, Sunday (Feb. 26) in the semifinals of the UCI Invitational. Senior Elizabeth McLaren, juniors Breda Vosters, Taylor Dodson and Kirstn Mase, and sophomore Kelly Mendoza scored for Cal, which dropped to 14-3 on the season.

The Bears had defeated UC Santa Barbara, 7-3, and Arizona State, 8-5, on Saturday to qualify for the semifinals. Cal will next play USC in the tournament's third place match at 4 p.m. Sunday. Earlier this season, the Bears had fallen to the Trojans, 10-5, in the Feb. 5 third-place match of Stanford Invitational.
