STANFORD, CALIF. -Junior All-American Emily Csikos and sophomores Dana Ochsner and Breda Vosters scored three goals apiece, and junior goalie Stephanie Peckham notched 10 saves, as the No. 3-ranked Cal women's water polo team defeated No. 9 San Jose State, 14-10, Saturday morning (Feb. 5) at the Stanford Invitational.
The Golden Bears improved to 8-0 on the season and will next play No. 1-ranked Stanford (5-0) at 4 p.m. Saturday. Cal's match against the Spartans was the first action of the season for team captains Csikos and Peckham, who had been nursing minor injuries.

SJSU had briefly tied the match, 8-8, on a Timi Molnar penalty shot, before Cal recaptured the lead, 11-9, on an Ochsner score, followed by a Csikos goal to end the third quarter.
San Jose State had jumped out to a 3-1 first period lead, before the Bears were able to catch the Spartans midway through the second quarter as Vosters scored, followed by another goal from freshman Kelly Mendoza gave the Bears a 5-4 advantage.
