Dec. 15, 2004

LONG BEACH, CA - University of California senior middle hitter Camille Leffall has been named to the 2004 AVCA Division I All-America Second Team, it was announced today by The American Volleyball Coaches Association. Earlier, Leffall had been named to the AVCA Pacific All-Region Team, and was a first team All-Pac-10 selection.

Leffall, 6-1 middle hitter from Upland, Calif., is only the third All-American in Cal volleyball history, following Sylvie Monnet from 1981-83, and Mia Jerkov in 2002 and 2003. This season, Leffall helped Cal to a 17-12 record and a third-consecutive NCAA tournament appearance, advancing to the NCAA second round before falling 3-2 to Saint Mary's Dec. 3. She broke her own school record with a .384 hitting percentage this year, surpassing her .381 hitting percentage set as a freshman in 2001. She also is the school-record holder with a .363 career hitting percentage, and broke the school-record for career blocks with 438 blocks from 2001-04.

Leffall shined in the Bears' Oct. 31 win over Stanford this season, recording a career-high 21 kills with a .425 hitting percentage. From Sept. 28-Nov. 5, she hit .300 or better in 11-straight matches, and hit .300 or better in 21 of 29 matches overall. Leffall was a member of the Pac-10 All-Freshman Team in 2001, was honorable mention All-Pac-10 in 2003, and a first team All-Pac-10 selection in 2004. She was also a member of five different all-tournament teams during her college career.
