BEAR NOTES: The Cal women's volleyball team, 10-14 overall and 5-11 in the Pac-10, concludes its 2000 home schedule and Pac-10 slate with 7 p.m. matches versus Oregon State Nov. 16 and Oregon Nov. 17 at the Recreational Sports Facility Fieldhouse. The Bears, at 5-11 in league play, will be attempting to equal last season's Pac-10 record of 7-11 when it hosts the Oregon schools. Earlier this year in the opening conference series at Oregon and Oregon State, Cal went five games in both matches, defeating the Ducks, 26-24, in the fifth game and losing to the Beavers, 16-14, in the fifth game. With four matches left in the regular season, the Bears, 10-14, are also attempting to better last season's overall mark of 13-15. If Cal can win 14 matches this season, it would be the most wins since the 1991 season (15-15). Senior outside hitter Alicia Perry has led the Bears all season long and has a team-high 383 kills and 339 digs (in conference 265 kills, 239 digs). Perry has also led Cal in both kills and digs in 12 of the Bears 24 matches. She is currently fourth on the Cal all-time career kill list with 1283, third on the Cal all-time kill attempt list with 3580 and eighth on the Cal all-time career dig list with 1077. Senior captain Perry, the Oct. 9 Pac-10 Player of the Week, is only the fourth player in school history to record over 1000 career kills and 1000 career digs. Among active Pac-10 players, she is second in career digs and third in career kills. Perry is also first in the conference in digs per game (4.04) and third in kills per game (4.56). Other Bears who are ranked among the Top 10 in the conference individual leaders include junior setter Candace McNamee, who is eighth in assists per game (8.19), sophomore Reena Pardiwala, who is 10th in blocks per game (0.95) and freshman Ashleigh Turner, who is 10th in service aces per game (0.29).
