BERKELEY - Senior middle hitter Kat Brown has been named the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday.

Brown helped the Bears to a road sweep last weekend, including a five-set upset of No. 2 Oregon. Cal also defeated Oregon State in four sets.

Brown tallied five blocks against the Ducks, which helped the Bears hold Oregon's potent offense in check for three of the five sets. Then against the Beavers, Brown registered a season-high nine blocks, one off her season high. Brown averaged 1.56 blocks per set over the two matches.

Brown is the first Cal player to earn Player of the Week honors this season. The Bears (13-11, 7-7 Pac-12) host No. 5 Washington at Haas Pavilion on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. then Washington State on Thursday at 6 p.m.
