BERKELEY - Hana Cutura recorded 44 kills on 70 attacks for a .557 hitting percentage, helping Cal win the Crowne Plaza Volleyball Classic title, and making the junior outside hitter the Muscle Milk California Student-Athlete of the Week.
The junior All-American helped the No. 9-ranked Golden Bears capture the 2008 Crowne Plaza Volleyball Classic title and earned tournament MVP honors with three 3-0 wins against Central Connecticut State, San Francisco and Cal State Fullerton. She led her team (and all players in each of the matches) in attacks and kills on the way to three victories, getting 44 kills over the weekend on 70 attacks (5e) as she hit for a scorching .557. In addition, she tied a career high with four service aces against the Blue Devils and ended up with seven service aces in the tournament. Her 11 digs against the Titans gave her a third double-double match this season. In each of the three matches, Cal hit for better than .360 and relied heavily on the hard-hitting attacks of Cutura.
