Student-Athlete Spotlight - Lisa Arce Zimmerman (OH, 1987-90)
Lisa Arce Zimmerman was the Bears' dominant player during the late 1980s. She led Cal in kills in three different seasons and is ranked No. 2 on the school's all-time digs list. She also ranks in the top ten on Cal's career list in blocks and aces.

CalBears.com: What made you choose your number?

Lisa Arce Zimmerman:

My brother, Rick, wore No. 22 in high school and I followed him in volleyball, so i was No. 22 on my high school team (Mira Costa of Manhattan Beach). My Cal coach wanted us to have numbers within a certain range, so I had to edit it to No. 2.It became more of my own personal favorite at Cal.

CalBears.com: What does it mean to be one of the Bears to have worn your number?

LAZ:

I am so proud to have been a member of the Cal team and to be able to wear my favorite number while playing is great.

CalBears.com: What was your favorite Golden Bear memory?

LAZ:

One of my many special memories of playing at Harmon Gym was having the Cal band come marching in during warm-ups and surrounding the court while playing. I think they strategically placed the tubas right by the opponents' hitters.

CalBears.com: What does it mean to you to have played for Cal volleyball?

LAZ:

I consider playing for Cal a great life accomplishment and am proud to have worn the blue and gold jersey. It's even more amazing considering where Coach Feller and his team(s) have taken the program. Go Bears!

CalBears.com: What are you up to these days - where do you live, what do you do, etc.?

LAZ:

I am a stay-at-home mom for my two daughters, Ella (6-and-a-half) and Abby (5). I am coaching girls volleyball at my alma mater, Mira Costa High School. We live in Redondo Beach, CA.
