No. 3 Stanford Beats Cal 3-0

Cardinal Wins 30th Straight Over the Golden Bears

STANFORD, Calif. --- Senior Kristin Folkl (St. Louis, MO/St. Josephs Academy) hit .519 with a match-high 15 kills to lead No. 3 Stanford (27-2 overall, 18-0 in the Pacific-10 Conference) to a 15-9, 15-2, 15-1 over California (8-19, 3-15) on Thursday night at Maples Pavilion in the Pac-10 finale for both teams. Stanford is 41-3 all-time against Cal, including 30 straight wins dating back to 1982.

Stanford's five seniors - Folkl, Lisa Sharpley (Los Altos, CA/Los Altos HS), Paula McNamee (Wheaton, MD/Sidwell Friends HS), Debbie Lambert (Kaneohe, HI/Punahou HS) and Barbara Ifejika (Brampton, Ontario, Canada/Mayfield Secondary) - finish their four-year careers with a 70-2 Pac-10 mark, including a 36-0 record at home.

Ifejika added 10 digs, six kills and four service aces and Sharpley 25 assists for the Cardinal in the 75-minute match.

Senior Jessica Dinaberg (West Hills, CA/El Camino HS) and freshman Alicia Perry (Lakewood, CA/Lakewood HS) led the Golden Bears with nine kills apiece.

California concludes the season with a mark of 8-19, 3-15 in the Pac-10 conference.
