One of Volleyball Magazine's Fab 50 high school players, as a senior at St. Mary's College High School in Berkeley, Calif., Murrey earned 2007 Bay Shore Athletic League MVP honors for the third consecutive season... 2007 California Gatorade Volleyball Player of the Year, first-team All-Bay Shore League... played in the 2007 World Championships for the USA girl's youth national team... as a junior in 2006, selected Bay Shore Athletic League MVP, Contra Costa Times Player of the Year, first-team All-Bay Shore League, PrepVolleyball Dream Team, Norceca World Championship MVP, Norceca World Championship Best Spiker Award, Norceca World Championship Top Scorer Award... as a sophomore in 2005, selected Bay Shore Athletic League MVP and Prep Volleyball's Sophomore Top 79 List... a four-year member of the Golden Bear Volleyball Club... Dean's List and honor roll as a sophomore and junior.

Tarah Lynnette Murrey was born in Santa Clara, Calif.... parents are Douglas and Barbara Murrey... father played basketball for San Jose State and was selected in the ninth-round of the 1981 NBA Draft by the Golden State Warriors and played professionally in Finland... mother played volleyball for San Jose State in 1978-79... brother Jerryck, 23, played forward for the Western Illinois basketball team... brother, Russell, 22, plays basketball for Adams State College... sister, Brittney, 21 is the starting setter for UC Riverside's volleyball team... uncle John Lovewell and great-grandfather, James Barry, are Cal graduates... has not declared a major.
