as a SOPHOMORE in 1998, played in 17 matches, tallying 99 kills with a .238 hitting percentage...also had 36 digs and 52 total blocks...hit .538 (eight kills, one error, 13 attempts) Sept. 25 at Arizona State...had a career-high seven block assists and nine total blocks Oct. 16 at Oregon...recorded a career high 13 kills and nine digs Oct. 30 at Washington State...suffered a stress fracture in her left shin (fibula) at Washington State, but was able to play again Nov. 13 versus Oregon State...
as a FRESHMAN in 1997 saw action in 17 matches, finishing the year with 32 kills, 12 digs and 18 total blocks...had a season-high five kills and three block assists Oct. 17 at Washington...the following night at Washington State had a season-high three digs and three block solos against the Cougars.
HIGH SCHOOL: A three-time all-league player at Centennial High School, leading her team to back-to-back state titles and a second place state finish as a sophomore...in her senior season (1996), Centennial went 35-1, won the Division I state title and was ranked the No. 1 team in the nation by Student Sports magazine...Meyer earned third team All-America honors from Volleyball Magazine as a senior...named to the CIF All-Tournament team and earned MVP honors at the Las Vegas Invitational...during her four-year career, Centennial won four Central Section titles (one in each Division), three league championships, two state titles and finished as state runner-up in 1995...named team MVP all four seasons in volleyball...played for Kern River Volleyball Club, winner of the 1997 Davis Festival, the equivalent of a national title...club team also finished second nationally in 1995 and 1996, and third in 1994...named MVP of school swimming team as a freshman...earned honor roll distinction all four years at Centennial High School.
PERSONAL: Kelly Lynne Meyer was born July 27, 1979 in Santa Maria, CA...parents are Jan and Terry Meyer...older sister Katie attends USC Law School and younger sister Julie is a freshman on the Cal Volleyball team...father Jan was a swimmer at USC in the late '60s...is majoring in social welfare.
