BERKELEY - Jessica Shu, of the California women's tennis team, was named to the Pac-10 All-Academic first team, announced today by Commissioner Tom Hansen. Suzi Babos, Marion Ravelojaona and Cristina Visico earned Pac-10 All-Academic honorable mention.

Shu, a senior captain, will graduate with a degree in material sciences and engineering. The San Francisco native has totaled an 84-44 career singles record, and has amassed a 13-7 dual-match record this season playing predominantly at No. 6 singles. Shu has also compiled an 8-4 overall doubles record with partner Cristina Visico. During the fall season, Shu won the singles main draw at the ASU Invitational.

Babos, a sophomore from Sopron, Hungary, is currently the 27th-ranked singles player in the country and was selected to compete in the NCAA Women's Tennis Championships in singles as well as doubles. Babos has totaled a 28-13 overall singles record and is 16-9 in dual-match competition, playing predominantly in the No. 2 position. Babos also holds a No. 8 doubles ranking with partner Zsuzsanna Fodor. The duo has posted a 21-8 overall doubles record.

Ravelojaona, a sophomore from Paris, France, recorded a 23-6 overall singles record this season and concluded the year ranked 124th in singles. Visico finished the season ranked 88th in singles play, recording a 19-13 overall record.

To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or significant contributor.
