BERKELEY - California returns to Pac-12 Conference play this week, as the 13th-ranked Golden Bears host Colorado and Utah at the Hellman Tennis Complex. The Bears (8-4, 2-0 in the Pac-12) - who are on a three-match winning streak - battle the Buffaloes (6-8, 1-3 Pac-12) on Friday, March 22, at 1:30 p.m. and then meet the No. 69 Utes (7-5, 1-3 Pac-12) at noon on Saturday, March 23. In conjunction with the USTA, Cal will host a Campus Kids' Day on Saturday that will include a clinic and other activities at the Channing Tennis Courts prior to the start of the Utah match at Hellman. Campus Kids' Days are designed to expose current and aspiring junior players (and their parents and coaches) from the local community to college tennis. Registration is free and will take place at the Hellman Tennis complex from 10-10:15 a.m. on Saturday. Campus Kids' Day officials will then walk the participants over to the Channing Tennis Courts, located on top of the Ellsworth Parking Structure on the corner of Channing Way and Ellsworth Street. Kids will take part in drills, games and other activities involving members of the Cal team; parents are welcome to watch the festivities. Those taking part in the Campus Kids' Day will then walk back to Hellman in time to watch the noon match against Utah.

Scouting the Utes
Last Time The Bears two of three doubles matches to clinch the doubles point. The 40th-ranked team of freshman Lynn Chi and junior Anett Schutting knocked off SDSU's Laura Antonana Iriarte and Michela Casanova, 8-2, on court one to start the day. But Cal freshman Klara Fabikova and junior Kelly Chui fell to the Aztecs' Julia Wais/Kristin Buth, 8-5, on court two to tie the proceedings. The senior duo of Tayler Davis and Annie Goransson won the doubles point by beating Isabelle Hoorn/Alicia Aguilar, 8-6, on court three. In singles on court six, Goransson shut out Casanova, 6-0, 6-0, to give Cal a 2-0 lead. On court two, No. 108 Fabikova topped Aguilar, 6-2, 6-4, to give Cal a 3-0 lead, but SDSU got on the board when Chui lost to Tami Nguyen on court five, 6-4, 6-1, to make the score 3-1. But that was the last win for the Aztecs, as Cal swept the final three matches: No. 57 Chi beat Antonana Iriarte, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, on court three; Davis beat Buth, 7-6(4), 6-1, on court four; and No. 9 Schutting closed out the match by ousting Wais, 6-3, 4-6, 6-2, on court one.
