Former Golden Bear Lauren Boyle swam in the Olympics last summer in London.

Results from the 2012 FINA Short-Course World Championships

ISTANBUL - California alumna and New Zealand Olympian Lauren Boyle will compete in the 11th FINA Short-Course World Championships that start Wednesday, Dec. 12, and run through Sunday, Dec. 16, at Sinan Erdem Arena. She is scheduled to swim in the 200-, 400- and 800-meter freestyles.

Last summer in London, Boyle swam for her native New Zealand at the (long-course) Olympics, placing fourth in the 800-meter free (Oceania-record 8:22.72) and eighth in the 400 free (4:06.25). She also swam on New Zealand's 800-free relay in the 2008 Olympics,

In the 2011 World University Games, Boyle won gold medals in the 400 and 800 frees, silver in the 200 free and bronze in the 1500 free.

Boyle swam for Cal from 2007-10 and aided the Bears in winning the 2009 NCAA team crown, Cal's first. She still holds school records in the 1650- and 1000-yard freestyles and ranks second in the 500 free as well as eighth in the 200 free. She earned a total of five All-America and three honorable mention All-America honors for the Bears.

At her last NCAA Championships, in 2010, Boyle claimed All-America honors in the 500 and 1650 frees as well as in the 800-free relay. Boyle was also an honorable-mention All-American in the 200 free that year.
