Jan. 15, 2010 HONOLULU - Junior Erica Dagg writes about the Golden Bears' Wednesday exploits, which included donuts, pancakes and more surfing. Day 8 - Jan. 13 Today was the last full day in Hawaii before we return to Berkeley. We started out our day with a meet against University of Hawaii. It was a very fun, quick meet, and to thank them we brought these amazing filled donuts. After that we went to the pool to have our last pool training session (we have ocean training tomorrow morning). It was a great practice -- we all feel so strong and ready for the second half of our season. That to me is the best part about Hawaii - not only is it when we train really well, but also it's like pressing a refresh button to our season. We all are ready for racing! After the practice we had the rest of the afternoon off. Hannah (Wilson), Kelsey (Hoff), Caitlin (Leverenz) and I decided to go to a restaurant called Mac 24-7 for lunch. Some of our teammates went there for dinner last night and told us we had to get the pancakes, which three of us split. The pancakes were the size of manholes, and there were three on top of each other. Kelsey, Caitlin and I finished about three fourths of one, which made us all very proud (only six people in the history of the restaurant have finished it alone). Then this afternoon as a team we decided to go surfing again. It's so interesting how the ocean changes from day-to-day. The first time we surfed the waves were very predictable. Today, however, the waves were spontaneous and choppy. Some Bears are so good at surfing they could catch anything! After surfing we stayed on the beach, got dinner, then went back to the hotel and packed for the return trip back to Berkeley!
