COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - California's Kahley Rowell and Sara-Lina Boushakra competed on the first day of the NCAA Zone E Diving Championships on Thursday at Cadet Gym at the U.S. Air Force Academy, though neither Golden Bear advanced past the three-meter springboard preliminary round. Rowell, a junior, posted a score of 262.10 to take 27th place, while Boushakra, a freshman, notched a score of 227.40 to place 43rd.

Only the top 18 advanced to Thursday's three-meter final. Rowell's final dive - a back two and a half somersault in the tuck position - earned her a score of 46.20, which left her 18.10 points behind the prelim's 18th-place finisher - USC's Haley Ishimatsu.

Nine divers from the NCAA Zone E meet will move on to the NCAA Women's Swimming & Diving Championships scheduled for March 21-23 in Indianapolis.

The NCAA zonal championship will continue on Friday with the one-meter springboard and will end on Saturday with the platform.
