Women Swimmers at Pac-10 Championships
Overton sets school and meet records.

Belmont Plaza Pool, Long Beach, CA - In the first of three days of competition at the Pac-10 Championships, sophomore Elli Overton captured first place in the 200 IM (1:58.25), setting a Pac-10 meet record, setting a school record and automatically qualifying for the NCAAs.
Others performing well for the Bears were sophomores Waen Minpraphal and Anya Kolbisen and freshman Haley Cope. Minpraphal finished second next to Overton in the 200 IM with a time of 2:00.35, also automatically qualifying for the NCAAs. Cope placed sixth in the 50 free (23.37), while Kolbisen placed seventh in the 50 free (23.48).
Junior Marylyn Chiang also qualified for the NCAAs, placing ninth in the consolidation final of the 200 IM (2:00.71).
The California relays also performed well. The 200 free relay (freshman Adrienne Mattos, Cope, Kolbisen, sophomore Nicole Omphroy, 1:32.10) placed third, breaking a school record set in 1991, while the 400 medley relay (Chiang, freshman Hanna Jaltner, Minpraphal, Kolbisen, 3:41.26) placed second, breaking a school record and automatically qualifying for NCAAs.
Cal is currently in fourth place with 292 points, behind Stanford (366.5 points), Arizona (303.5), and USC (302.5 points).
