Cal Claims 13 Pac-10 All-Academic Spots - March 30, 2011
Another impactful transfer, Kastes claimed honorable mention All-America honors by taking 14th place in the 500-yard freestyle (4:41.57) at the 2010 NCAA Championships.
At the 2010 Pac-10 Championships, she competed in the 500 free (11th, 4:44.16), 200 butterfly (13th, 1:58.91) and 400 IM (17th, 4:16.75).
Won the 200 fly (2:02.55) in her first dual meet as a Golden Bear against Pacific on Oct. 11, 2009.
Joined Cal after swimming for the Razorbacks for two seasons (2007-08, 2008-09), when she was a four-time honorable mention All-American.
Thirteenth in the 400-yard individual medley (4:07.92), 15th in the 200 fly (1:56.72) and swam in the 200 IM at the 2009 NCAA Championships.
Swam against current Cal teammate Sara Isakovic in the 200 fly consolation final at 2009 NCAAs.
2009 NCAA academic All-American.
Ninth in the 200-yard butterfly (school-record and PR 1:55.66) and 15th in the 500 freestyle (4:43.96) in the 2008 NCAA Championships.
Her 2008 ninth-place finish in the 200 fly was the best placement ever for an Arkansas swimmer at NCAAs.
Named to the 2009 SEC Winter Academic Honor Roll and the 2008 SEC All-Freshman Team.
2008 U.S. OLYMPIC TRIALS
Competed in the 200-meter butterfly, 400 freestyle, 400 individual medley, 100 butterfly and 200 butterfly.
HIGH SCHOOL/CLUB SUCCESS
Her Countryside High School team was the Florida state champion in 2006.
Four-year high school All-American.
Also swims for West Florida Lightning Aquatics club.
History major; plans to go to law school.
Twin sister, Kylie, now swims for Tulane after swimming with Katie at Arkansas.
