BERKELEY - Freshman Jayme Goodwin came to the Bears by way of nearby Dublin, Calif., with the expectation that she would be a threat on the base paths after excelling as a track prepster. Threaten the opposition she did in 10 appearances, primarily as a baserunner with a stint at third base. In her first year in the Cal uniform, Goodwin scored four runs. CalBears.com recently caught up with the 5-8 utility to see how her freshman campaign went - in the classroom as well as on and off the diamond. CalBears.com: Now that you've got one year of collegiate softball under your belt - what was the best part of the softball season? CalBears.com: What was it like to balance top-notch academics and playing on nationally ranked softball team? JG: It was really difficult at times. Balancing school and athletics is an art that is hard to master. It takes a lot of discipline, but it can be done. CalBears.com: What was the first trip to the postseason like for you? |
