BERKELEY -

Junior short stop Taylor Kelly is the first Cal softball player this season to be named the Pac-10 Player of the Week. Kelly had two home runs in the Stanford series, including a game-winning two-run shot in the bottom of the seventh to give the Bears a series victory over the No. 2 Cardinal.

Kelly, a native of Santee, Calif., helped the Bears earn two wins over second-ranked Bay Area rival Stanford last weekend. In the second game of the three-game series, Kelly hit a home run off of Stanford pitcher Missy Penna in the sixth inning to boost the Golden Bears to a 3-1 victory. Kelly's home run was only the fifth long ball Penna has allowed all season.

On Sunday, it was Kelly's second home run of the weekend which solidified her as a hero for the Golden Bears. After Stanford rallied back to tie California 6-6 in the top of the seventh inning, Kelly hit a walk-off two-run home run to win the game 8-6 and take the series against the Cardinal. The junior finished the weekend with three runs, three hits, two home runs and three RBI.

The Bears are back in action Wednesday, April 15 when they host the Saint Mary's Gaels at 3 p.m. at Levine-Fricke Field.
