The Golden Bears defeated Arkansas, 7-0, on Sunday evening to capture the Berkeley Regional. Cal will host Washington at Levine-Fricke Field next week for the Berkeley Super Regional. Dates and times have yet to be announced. Arkansas upset top-seeded Cal 3-2 on Saturday. The Bears eliminated BU 8-0 on Saturday night to keep their season alive. Cal run-ruled the Razorbacks 10-2 in five innings in the first game of Sunday's doubleheader, forcing the if necessary game seven. Jolene Henderson pitched back-to-back wins, improving to 34-2 in the circle. Britt Vonk tallied her first homer of the year and Ashley Decker drove in two runs of her own. Bottom of the First - Cal 3, Arkansas 0: Jamia Reid put an upstairs pitch through the left side and went to second on a perfect sacrifice bunt by Britt Vonk. Arioto was intentionally walked and Echavarria reached on a fielder's choice, when her hit was stopped at short but there was no play to be made at second. With the bases loaded, Jace Williams grounded out to second, plating Reid. A wild pitch brought Arioto home and then an Ashley Deckersingle to right plated Echavarria.
Bottom of the Second - Cal 6, Arkansas 0: Cheyenne Cordes singled through the left side, Jamia Reid laid down a bunt single, bringing up Britt Vonk, who cranked out her first homer of the year. Next Time on the Diamond: The Bears host Washington in Super Regional play in Berkeley. Dates and times have yet to be announced.
