Score: No. 1 California 4, No. 14/15 UCLA 0 BERKELEY -The No. 1 California softball team dished out its 22nd shutout of the season with a 3-0 win over No. 14/15 UCLA on Friday afternoon under sunny skies in Berkeley. Ashley Decker drove in the first two runs with a single in the third and then Cheyenne Cordes plated another via a sac fly in the sixth. Jolene Henderson ups her record to 25-1 thanks to the seven-inning, three-hit performance in which she struck out nine. Jessica Hall (16-8) pitched the complete-game loss, allowing two earned runs on three hits and three walks while fanning 11. The Cal victory thwarted a UCLA four-game winning streak and moves the all-time series record to 26-78. Bottom of the Third - UCLA 0, Cal 2: UCLA shortstop Kellie Fox bobbled a Jamia Reid grounder, allowing Frani Echavarria - who had taken ball four to the leg - to advance to second and Reid to reach on the fielder's choice. A wild pitch put Echavarria at third and Reid at second, just in time for Decker's at-bat. On a 1-1 count, Decker ripped the ball up the middle, scoring both Echavarria and Reid.
Bottom of the Sixth - UCLA 0, Cal 3: After Valerie Arioto singled to left, Jace Williams doubled to the wall in center, which allowed Arioto advanced to third. With a high shot to right, Cordes plated Arioto with her fourth sac fly of the year.
