SEATTLE, WA: The No. 19 ranked University of California softball team upset No. 3 ranked Washington, 6-4 and 3-0, Sunday in Seattle. The Bears improve to 22-13 on the year, while the Huskies fall to 21-6.
In the first game of the doubleheader, Cal jumped out to a 6-0 lead after five innings, but Bear starter Holly Yost allowed four runs in the bottom of the sixth before being relieved by Whitney Floyd. Floyd was able to get out of the sixth and seventh innings to earn his first save of the season.
Top hitters for Cal in the first game were Yost and Maiko Bristow with two RBI apiece.
In game two, Floyd was again a star for the Bears as she threw a complete-game, four-hit shutout. Katie May was a top hitter for Cal with an RBI double.
