SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- No. 21 California stayed unbeaten in the Capital Classic early Saturday, running its winning streak to 12 games.
The Bears (20-9) completed pool play in the 16-team tournament with a 3-0 record, defeating Arkansas 7-0 on Thursday and Kansas (5-4) and seventh-ranked Hawaii (3-1) on Friday. In championship bracket competition, Cal beat Texas A&M (9-0) Friday night then came back to upend Baylor (6-2) Saturday afternoon.
In the Kansas game, the Bears smacked four doubles and were led by a 2-for-3, 2 RBI performance by freshman left fielder Paige Bowie. Kansas rallied for a run in the top of the seventh inning to close the score to 5-4, but freshman right-hander Nicole DiSalvio came in for starter Whitney Floyd and induced a double play to end the game.

Teams were then seeded into championship and consolation brackets, and Cal continued its hot streak with a 9-0 blanking of Texas A&M on the championship side. Floyd pitched a three-hit shutout, and second baseman Lisa Iancin led the offensive charge with two homers and three RBI.
Saturday morning, the Bears spotted Baylor a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning, but came back with six runs in the bottom half to claim a 6-2 win. Third baseman Carlyn Rojas and right fielder Pauline Duenas each had two RBI.
