TEMPE, Ariz. - When looking for the MVP of the No. 3/4 California's softball team's 10-0 mercy win over Texas State, there are plenty of Golden Bears from which to choose.

Jolene Henderson threw a five-inning one hitter, striking out five. The Cal defense backed that up by playing errorless ball.

Valerie Arioto hit a three-run homer that landed in an adjacent practice field. Danielle Henderson cleared two fences with her two-score home run. LaRisa Jones plated Taylor Vincent and Frani Echavarria with a triple to the wall in right center.

So clearly, the Bears were performing on all cylinders as they moved to 3-0 on the season while the Bobcats fall to 1-2.

Top of the First - California 2, Texas State 0:

Cheyenne Cordes and Danielle Henderson posted back-to-back singles and Cordes moved to third on a sac fly from Victoria Jones. Henderson successfully stole second, but the throw down from Macie Hair bounced into center field, allowing Cordes to score. Henderson advanced to third on a single to the hot corner by Jamia Reid and then slid past the tag at home when Britt Vonk singled to third.

Jace Williams walked, moved to second on a wild pitch then came home when Danielle Henderson cleared two fences with her second homer of the year.

Top of the Fourth - California 7, Texas State 0:

Jamia Reid singled to third and Britt Vonk laid down a beautiful bunt single to put runners at the corners for Arioto, who homered.

Top of the Fifth - California 10, Texas State 0:

Taylor Vincent walked, Frani Echavarria doubled to the wall in right center, setting up LaRisa Jones who tripled to right center to plate Vincent and Echavarria. Valerie Arioto had a sac fly to right, scoring Jones from third.
