Yost Wins Two in Cal Sweep of Broncos

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Holly Yost allowed one run in 11 innings on the mound and went 5-for-6 with a pair of home runs at the plate as California (27-18) swept Santa Clara (18-41) by scored of 10-0 and 9-1 in non-conference softball action at Lafayette Park.

Yost (20-13) allowed a total of seven hits in her 11 innings of work against the Broncos. In the first game, she threw four shutout innings, allowing three hits. The sophomore went 2-for-3 with a walk at the plate, clubbing both of her home runs as the Bears totaled four home runs in all against Bronco starter Shawnterra Moore (9-19) to win 10-0 in five innings. The Bears scored three runs each in the second, third and fifth innings. The big blow was Jessica Parker's three-run homer in the third that made the score 7-0 California and put the game away.

After two scoreless innings in the second game, Cal scored in each of the next five innings to win the contest 9-1 against the Broncos Jessica Acord (6-17). Yost and catcher Megumi Takasaki each went 3-for-4 and second baseman Lisa Iancin collected two RBI singles.
