California Downs San Jose State

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - California pitcher Holly Yost pitched a compete-game, five-hitter to lead the Bears past San Jose State Thursday at the Sacramento Softball Complex at the Capital Classic.

Yost, who upped her record to 12-8 with the win, allowed one run - unearned - and finished with eight strikeouts.

Offensively, Cal (18-12) was led by Karen Bonini who was 2-for-2 with two RBI and one run scored. Yost also contributed two hits and a run scored.

San Jose State (13-17) took the first lead of the game with an unearned run in the bottom of the third inning, but Cal answered with two runs in the top of the fourth inning and added an insurance run in the seventh inning.
