Cal Softball Signs Three to Letters of Intent
Three players have signed national letters of intent to play softball at Cal
next season, head coach Diane Ninemire announced Thursday. The newcomers are
pitcher Jocelyn Forest (Santa Maria, CA/Righetti HS), catcher Shauna Chapin
(Riverside, CA/La Sierra HS) and infielder Candace Harper (Stockton, CA/Lincoln
HS).
Forest was a first team all-state player last spring, earning MVP or most
outstanding pitcher at three different tournaments. She competes for the
Southern California Athletics Gold ASA team in the summer.
Chapin has earned first team league honors three consecutive years. As a
freshman, she was second team All-CIF and was voted team MVP. She also plays
for the Southern California Athletics Gold ASA team.
Harper, a three-time all-league and all-area shortstop in Stockton, batted .512
with 36 RBI and 30 runs last season. She was also named her team's offensive
player of the year for three seasons.
