She recorded a pair of shutouts against No. 2 UCLA and USC to help guide the Bears to a 2-0 victory over the Trojans and a scoreless draw with the Bruins. The goalie was the first to hold UCLA scoreless this season. Kruger played the entire match against both the Bruins and the Trojans. She totaled six saves in the two matches, including four against UCLA and two against USC. The tie against UCLA snapped the Bruins seven-match winning streak. The draw also ended Cal's six-game losing streak to the Bruins.
With the pair of shutouts over the weekend, Kruger now has four shutouts in 2011. She owns a 0.95 goals-against average for the season.
Kruger is the second women's soccer student-athlete to win the award this season, joining Lauren Battung, who was recognized on Aug. 22.
With the weekend's results, Cal is now 9-3-2 overall and 2-1-2 in the Pac-12. The Golden Bears return to action next Friday in Tucson, Ariz. with a 7 p.m. match against Arizona.
