BERKELEY - Junior forward Rachel Mercik played a key role in the California women's soccer team winning two games this weekend, making her this week's California Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week. "We moved some things around the front line and having Rachel play centrally proved to be a positive one for us," associate head coach Patrick Baker said. "She is a very talented player that understands what we need from that central striker. Rachel was active on and off the ball all weekend, she gave us great starts in back to back conference wins." Mercik scored the game-winning goal to lead her No. 19 Bears past No. 12 Oregon State 3-1 on Sunday afternoon. Over two games - and two wins - against the Oregon schools, Mercik tallied four shots and one goal for two points. The score was Mercik's first of the year. 2012-13 California Muscle Milk Student-Athletes of the Week
