BERKELEY - Alex Morgan scored two goals in Saturday's exhibition game to add to a 7-0 rout of Saint Mary's to make the sophomore forward the Muscle Milk California Student-Athlete of the Week.
The first goal came right at the end of the first half as Morgan drove a 15-yard shot just inside the right post to extend the lead to 4-0. Later, Morgan earned a penalty kick in the 77th minute and was able to connect to extend the lead to 5-0. Morgan also paced Cal in shots with six.
Morgan begins her sophomore season after having spent the summer starring for the U.S. under-20 national team and will open the regular season with Cal on August 24th at San Jose State.
