Cal Blanks Arizona, 3-0

TUCSON, Ariz. -- The University of Arizona women's soccer team suffered its third straight Pac- 10 loss on Friday, falling to California, 3-0, in front of a crowd of 371 at Murphey Stadium. The Wildcats slip to 8-10-1 overall and 2-6 in the Pac-10, while Cal improves to 10-7-1 overall and 5-3 in Pac-10 play.

Cal freshman midfielder Natalie Stuhlmueller put the Bears on the board first with her goal at the 25:56 mark, off a pass by senior forward Courtney Carroll. Sophomore midfielder Sarah Kaminsky iced the win for Cal when she took advantage of a mix-up in the goal mouth to dent the net at 76:54.

Arizona had the slight edge in shooting, with 17 shots to Cal's 16. Sophomore forward Megan Canaday led the Wildcats with six shots, including four on goal. Fellow sophomore Krista Bogdan (Salpointe Catholic HS) had four shots in the match.

Freshman goalkeeper Maite Zabala made 10 saves for the Bears en route to her first solo shutout of the season, while Arizona freshman `keeper Inger Airheart had seven saves.

Arizona, which has lost four of its last five matches, closes the 1997 season at home on Sunday, Nov. 9, against Stanford at 1 p.m. Cal travels to Tempe to take on Arizona State on Sunday.
