BERKELEY - Five different players scored as No. 15 California downed Saint Joseph's, 6-0, Sunday afternoon at Edwards Stadium on the final day of the 14th-annual Cal Invitational. The Golden Bears improved to 2-1, while the Hawks fell to 0-2.

"We played well and created a lot of goalscoring opportunities," Cal head coach Neil McGuire said. "We actually created a lot of scoring opportunities on Friday but were having a lot of trouble in front of the net in executing the end of our offense. Our buildups are very good. We just weren't getting on frame. We need to do that."

Freshman midfielder Katrin Omarsdottir, who was named to the all-tournament team, put Cal ahead for good in the 20th minute with a header off a serve by senior defender Nkechi Kanu.

Sophomore forward Alex Morgan extended the Bears' lead to 2-0 about four minutes later off a long service from redshirt freshman defender/forward Natasha Richardson.

Redshirt junior forward Lisa Kevorkian, another all-tournament pick, sent Cal into the locker room ahead, 3-0, at the half with a sliding shot in close in the 31st minute. Freshman forward Camellia Senemar was credited with the assist.

Cal's offense was far from finished. Freshman midfielder Katie Suits knocked in her first shot that went off the left post to give the Bears a 4-0 advantage.

In the 64th minute, Kevorkian scored her second goal of the game on a header off a long cross by sophomore defender/midfielder Megan Jesolva. Kevorkian leads Cal in points (9) and goals (4) this season, while Morgan is second in goals (3) and points (8).

"Lisa didn't play last year because of injury," McGuire said. "She is one of our top performers (this year)."

Redshirt junior Torrey Delaplane put an exclamation point on Cal's win by netting her first goal of the season as time expired. Freshman defender/forward Miranda White set Delaplane up with a perfect through ball.

Cal outshot Saint Joseph's, 29-2, and had numerous quality chances to score additional goals. Twenty-one of the 26 players on Cal's roster saw action in today's game. Only the Bears' center backs, Richardson and freshman Danielle Brunache, played the full 90 minutes.

Redshirt junior Rosie Aguilera and redshirt freshman Jorden LaFontaine-Kussmann didn't need to make a save to give Cal its first shutout of 2008.

Saint Joseph's Kortney Rhoades and Sarah O'Malley were chosen to the all-tournament team.

Cal State Fullerton won the Cal Invitational by virtue of its 3-2 overtime win over Cal on Friday and the Titans' 2-0 shutout of Saint Mary's today. Cal State Fullerton's Jenae Gibbens was named the tournament MVP and was joined on the all-tournament team by her teammates Erica Peschken and Tamara Dewey. Mallory Lee and Danielle Spann represented Saint Mary's on the all-tournament team.

Cal returns to action against Missouri Saturday, Sept. 6, at 11 a.m. at Edwards Stadium.
