Oakes has made huge strides since the latter portion of the 2007 fall season...has the potential to be one of the best midfielders in the country...good on the ball and an excellent distributor...takes players on and excels at finishing her shots.
CAL: 2007: Selected Cal's Co-Most Improved Player...tallied career highs of seven points, two goals and three assists...all three of her team-high three assists were game winners (Columbia, at Oregon and vs. Santa Clara in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.)...minutes increased at the end of the season, including a season high of 87 in the second round NCAA game against Stanford. 2006: Saw action in 12 games.
HIGH SCHOOL/PERSONAL: Named a Top 100 recruit nationally by Soccer Buzz...teamed with former Bear Courtney Hooker to lead the SoCal United Soccer Club to the 2004 U18 national championship...started at forward as a sophomore - the youngest player - on that national championship team, while Hooker was a senior...the following year, played center back for SoCal United, which was ranked in the top three nationally...in 2005, played center mid for the same club, which continued to be one of the top U18 teams in Southern California...at El Camino Real High School, was a three-time all-league and all-city selection and received league MVP and city Player of the Year accolades...named an MVP by the Los Angeles Times as a senior and a Daily News MVP as a junior and senior...in 2003 and 2004, notched the most goals and assists on her high school team...three-year member of the ODP state pool...enjoys painting, sketching, yoga and wakeboarding...art practice major...parents are George and Cheryl Oakes...her sister, Jill, played soccer at UCLA...born Dec. 31, 1987, in Tarzana.
